A day that will live in infamy? Why remake such a wonderful film? Why not do something new? (Yes, I know I've said it before. I've heard the standard reasons. But Hollow-wood wonders why they are losing an audience?)

1 Klaatu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaatu_(band) I was in HS when they appeared. Liked 'em. Like any other sci-fi remake, there is a huge chance it could suck, and a small chance it could be brilliant. I liked the remake of The Thing better than the original, but that's the only one I can think of. War of the Worlds stunk, but then it was doomed with Tom Cruise in it. I'm more worried about the re-cast prequel to Syar Trek TOS. *shudder*

2 Given the range of Keanu Reeve's acting, he's the obviously choice to play the giant inert robot. I wonder who's playing Klaatu? (Actually, I was playing Klaatu earlier today, or at least the only song of theirs that anyone remembers.)
