RIP, Marta Bohn-Meyer

Test pilot Marta Bohn-Meyer died last week in a crash of an aerobatic plane in Oklahoma.
Sadly ironic that she would die in a little single-engine prop plane after a career that included flying one of NASA's SR-71s at three times the speed of sound in high altitude tests at Dryden Flight Research Center in California.

Strange how life suddenly takes a, for us mortals, sudden detour...
Rest in Peace Martha.

I'm sure that if there's anything to this afterlife bit, she's having a Girls Night Out with Jacquie C. and Amelia E.

This is a shocker, Marta was a student at Rensselear when I was doing my graduate work in the late 70's. She took me in my first small plane flight ever in a Cessna 172, that lead to me wanting to be a pilot.
She always wanted to fly supersonic airplanes so I was so thrilled when I saw her picture in a magazine flying the SR-71 for NASA.
MAy she rest in peace.
