Memorial Day
This weekend marks the traditional "start of the summer", the "start of the driving season" and such.

It also is Memorial Day, time when we should be honoring those who served and who are currently serving.
Alas, that people in the Washington, D.C. area seem to be unable to support the troops. I was in the indirect line of fire of a similar tirade while volunteering at the church carnival last week. It was directed by a young man who was thinking of joining the USMC. When the woman delivering the tirade turned to me, apparently for confirmation of her wingnut views, I informed her sweetly that I was a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Army.
